The Rance Allen Group

The Rance Allen Group is a soul Gospel music group formed in Monroe, Michigan, and based in Toledo, Ohio. The group's incorporation of rock and soul musical styles into traditional Gospel music predates CCM artists of the late 70s.

The group was formed by vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist, and songwriter Rance Allen with his brothers Tom, Steve and Esau. The group was the first to be signed to the Stax Records, and they recorded for the Stax organization throughout the 1970s.
