Pat Boone
Pat Boone, born Charles Eugene Boone on June 1, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida, rose to prominence during the late 1950s original rock and roll era when he scored numerous hit songs covering rhythm and blues songs originally done by black artists. He became one the biggest charting artists of the late 50s, second only to Elvis Presley.
Already a born again Christian, when the Jesus Movement exploded in California in the late 1960s, Pat became instantly involved and provided encouragement as well as financial support to some of the artists of that burgeoning music genre. He would record many albums of hymns, Gospel songs, and contemporary Christian tunes during the 70s and 80s.
