Good News: A Christian Folk Musical is yet another early example of combining a more contemporary sound with the Gospel message. Performed by the staff members of the Glorieta Baptist Assembly of New Mexico during the summer of 1967, this recording is even more interesting in that the musical was conducted by Billy Ray Hearn, who would become a major figure in the creation and promotion of CCM and Christian rock just a few years after this release, by first creating the Myrrh Records label featuring Randy Matthews, Barry McGuire and 2nd Chapter of Acts, and then creating the Sparrow group of labels and the major artists that would appear on both of those labels.
