Bill, Dave & Mary

Bill, Dave & Mary was Bill Landers, Dave Smith and Mary Mauldin and even though they look like a 60s folk trio on the album jacket, they actually had a sound that points toward the classic ‘70s Jesus folk-rock period. All three members would later go on to form the group Dove. Their sound is that of jangly upbeat folk-rock, light rock and moody ballads.

Bill and Dave started as a duet in 1968 and performed at Christian coffee houses around Oklahoma City. They began to travel with evangelist Richard Hogue where they met Mary Mauldin, who would soon join the group. In 1971, they added two members and changed their name to Dove.
